  • Valentino Fall 2014 RTW Collection

By Alicia Hall on March 7, 2014
Valentino’s fall collection was yet another master class in showing a diversity of themes in one collection, that managed to maintain continuity despite the mash of ideas. The show opened with a decisively mod theme. Optic patterns and bold graphic colors eventually gave way to more familiar territory, with subdued yet structured pieces infused with jacquard filled butterflies, and billowing caftans. […]

  • Elie Saab Fall 2014 RTW Collection

By Alicia Hall on March 4, 2014
Elie Saab’s Fall collection was an absolute thing of jewel toned beauty. Burgundy, teal, dark moody florals, black lace, sequins, and the most sophisticated shade of mauve blended seamlessly together in a parade of deeply cut pleated maxis, smartly tailored trousers, and extravagant furs. Dégradé color shifts popped against the otherwise completely color-blocked collection.  Enjoy!!

  • Balmain Fall 2014 RTW Collection

By Alicia Hall on February 28, 2014
The collection that was Balmain Fall 2014, revived the long admired military trend, with a new take only Olivier Rousting could master. Olive greens, canary yellows, and even a dash of leopard were all present. Balmain’s signature silhouettes came out to play, (structured shoulders and pegged pants) but didn’t feel redundant. Especially exciting were the ornately macramed dresses using lengths […]

  • Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2014 RTW Collection

By Alicia Hall on February 26, 2014
If one thing’s for sure, it’s that Dolce & Gabbana will turn in supremely inspired work, heavy on literal translations, and whimsically enviable accessories. This Fall, the theme was assuredly Medieval. Hoods and caplets abounded, and animal motifs, such as foxes, squirrels, and owls also lent a modern folkloric element, to an otherwise deliberately archaic collection. What do you think? […]

  • Duro Olowu Fall 2014 RTW Collection

By Alicia Hall on February 24, 2014
Duro Olowu will hit the 10 year mark for his brand later this year. In that 10 years he has carved out a very distinct identity, one that is easily recognizable as unique to him season in and out. This Fall, Olowu presented a collection that was comfortable in it’s own skin. Every piece within was in some way a […]

  • Mary Katrantzou Fall 2014 RTW Collection

By Alicia Hall on February 18, 2014
Mary Katrantzou is known for her masterful use of digital prints. So much so that her Spring collection was criticized for being vaguely redundant, and the challenge was issued to Katrantzou to evolve as a designer and expand her aesthetic. In answering that challenge, Katrantzou’s Fall 2014 collection, was a refreshingly different approach with more of an emphasis on textile […]

  • Vionnet Pre-Fall 2014 Collection

By Alicia Hall on January 9, 2014
Goga Ashkenazi has flourished in her role as head designer since taking the helm of the House of Vionnet. Her Pre-Fall 2014 collection contained pleating on just about every piece and a play on proportion that was refreshing while also recalling Vionnet’s art deco roots. We love the deliberate play on color contrasting. What do you think? Enjoy!!
