Alexander Wang for Balenciaga

It’s official – Alexander Wang will be taking over the Parisian house, Balenciaga, starting next week. The Taiwanese-American designer will be filling Nicolas Ghesquière’s shoes, who was rumored to have left Balenciaga today.

Even though Wang’s career was short lived (his first runway show was in spring of 2007), he has become one of the brightest stars of the American fashion scene with his groovy T-shirts, studded handbags and high-impact fashion shows.

So now the question is: What will a Wang-driven Balenciaga look like? His 90′s, streetwise edge and tinge-of-Goth inspired clothing is quite the opposite of Balenciaga’s strict, structured style. I guess we just have to wait and see! Enjoy…xx

Innovation for such an old house of couture. Should be interesting.
