The Baroque period was definitely known for gilding the lily. Well, It was known for gilding pretty much anything that it could get it’s hands on, then draping it in lace and jewels.
The point of this trend is that decadence abounds and money is no object. Something I know I’d sure like to portray even if it is a little tongue in cheek.
