Chictopia Influential Blogger of the Year Winner

Wow, this is just beyond amazing. You won’t believe it.. I won the Chictopia Influential Blogger of the Year Award.

I owe it all to you – my fantastic readers and the Chictopia community for the incredible support. I really didn’t expect to win, so this came as an exciting surprise.

This post is really just to thank you. To let you know that I appreciate you and that I will continue to work hard to deliver good content, pay it forward, and support my fellow bloggers.

Folake will be jetted to New York to attend NY Fashion Week with Chictopia’s editors, featured on Chictopia’s YouTube channel, the EIU blog, and will also receive $2400 worth of outfits for an entire year! You excited Folake? ;)

A huge thank you to Chictopia and American Apparel for making a girl’s dream come true.

    Folake, woman I am so emotional right now in hearing this fantastic news of your win! Of course I voted for you on Chictopia and blasted to my other blogger buddies on Facebook of your inspiring interview regarding “Racism in Fashion”, my call to action was “Will You Listen?”

    I’m recalling when I first signed up for a Chictopia account sometime in 2008 and I spent days trying to “link” with other bloggers like myself – there were none. With the exception of yourself and another incredible fashion blogger from D.C. named Chomy aka The Culture Cynic.

    I chose to simply follow you two, hoping to remain inspired while working on my own clothing line and discovering my own since of style. I’m happy to report that I am happy with the baby steps I’ve taken so far to build my own original content. I can now be found on blogger, facebook, chictopia and many others. But I’m learning that you have to put in the work, simple and plain.

    Fast forward to 2011…
    After almost 11years of sewing and designing I will be a featured designer at my very first fashion show! #fullofnervesandexcitment

    Chomy’s blog the Culture Cynic is still going strong and continuing to build a strong voice and presence on the web – I love her in-your-face, what you see is what you get persona!

    And you Folake, for you dear this is ONLY the beginning your imagery alone has burned confidence, focus and respect into my spirit and it feels fantastic to be able to connect with someone so dynamic! You keep the inspiration to be powerful in your own beauty flowing constantly.
