Made in Africa: Asibelua Spring 2012 Collection

Today, we are shining the spotlight on three of our favorite designers that showed at NYFW Made in Africa by Arise Magazine.

It is important to note that all the designers were outstanding and creative. However, we are featuring the three that stood out most to us.

Starting with Fati Asibelua, who’s signature design aesthetic mixes traditional African patterns with modern shapes, creating a fusion of African culture with contemporary style.

Her international background, combined with the influence of her African homeland culture, gives Fati Asibelua a fresh global view of fashion

Favorite pieces in this set are the plaid maxi skirts (1st row – 2nd pic & 2nd row – 2nd pic)  tie-dye caftan (1st row – 4th pic), the tie-dye dresses (4th row-4th pic) and (5th row-2nd pic).

Thank u

Thank you for this feature, Folake!

I must say I’m (vicariously!) basking in the wonderful press “our girls” – haha! 😉 – have been receiving. I love, love, love JBL but Asibelua/Momo has got to be my favourite. Her use of colour and print is pure genius!

And on that rather gushing note, I must get back to my own collection – lol!!!!!!!!!!!!
