Edun Boxy Shirt + Edun Silk Harem Pants

I feel proud, beautiful and hopeful in this outfit. Why? Because of the amazing story behind the brand Edun.

I was excited beyond belief when I was contacted by Edun for a collaboration. As most of you know, I am African. From Nigeria (West Africa). So, naturally, I said, “Yes, yes, yes.”

Edun was founded by Ali Hewson and Bono in 2005 as a commitment to develop trade with Africa, while encouraging other brands to do the same.

Some of the clothes are made in Peru, Uruguay, India and China, however, the production in Africa makes up for roughly 25% and they are aiming to have 40% by 2013.

You can read more about Edun’s mission here. Edun currently has several initiatives and partnerships in Africa, including a tee-shirt business which is 100% grown and sewn in Africa. More about the partnerships can be found here. Enjoy.. xo

PS – A huge thanks to the Edun team for gifting me with amazing clothes. They will be in heavy rotation.

I love this video. Listen to Ali Hewson & Bono talk about their inspiration – How Edun was birthed and their plans and goals moving forward.

Through Edun’s operations it looks to build long term, sustainable growth opportunities by supporting manufacturers, infrastructure and community building initiatives. Edun wants to use its experience as an example to show the viability of trade with Africa and to use its voice to encourage others within the fashion industry to do business with Africa, helping to create long-term commercial and social development.

My shirt was made in Africa and currently on sale for over 60% off here. I will be wearing it a lot this summer and layering come fall! Unfortunately, my pants are completely sold out, but these are on sale.
