Beth of B. Jones Style is another one of my favorites. I love anyone that wears colors, and wears it well. She combines unlikely prints, patterns and hues. I can’t get enough of her style. Beth also shows videos of DIY hair tutorials on blog. She truly knows her stuff. Get to know her..
Can you tell us a little about you? Married? Age?
I live in Orange County, CA. I have been married for five years and just turned the big 3-0.
Where are you from?
I am from an island in South Carolina called Hilton Head Island.
How did you get started in the industry?
I started a blog called The Vintage Society in January 2007, and from there ended up with a sponsorship with Quiksilver Women. I went on to become their online fashion editor and then closed down The Vintage Society blog and re-branded myself with my new company B. Jones Style which encompasses styling, fashion writing and blogging for B. Jones Style.
I have always been a creative person and it came out in many ways growing up: through the theater, art and fashion. I would sketch outfits, style little photo shoots with friends and re-create myself with the latest trends. When I moved out to California I saw that it could really be a career and began exploring what that would look like and how I could get there.
What is your vision as a wardrobe stylist?
I tell my clients, I am not a wardrobe consultant.. I am not there to tell them to throw things away or what their colors are or the right cuts for their body type. I act as a stylist.. helping them with their STYLE. Finding a new vision for them and really helping them to create something individual about the way they dress. I want them to feel like their own style icon.
Whom/What Magazines have you worked for?
I have mainly been working for Quiksilver Women.
I have collaborated with Riviera Magazine, PacSun, and Boutiques.com.
How does your work set you apart?
I don’t know if I am set apart. I just try to be true to myself and what I love. I work really hard to research, learn and be inspired constantly. If I am styling, writing or dressing myself.. I always try to keep “myself” in the mix.
What inspires your unique and effortless style?
I am inspired by numerous things. I love wearing vintage pieces and often that can inspire my style. If I just purchased a new vintage coat, I will create a look around that. I love looking to fashion editorials, old movies, characters from books, or specific eras for inspiration. Of course, being online I constantly see inspiration in blogs.
How would you describe your personal style?
In three words: Dramatic, Vintage-Inspired and Eclectic.
How do people respond to your style?
I live in an era where people often have a certain type of style, so I definitely look different than the majority. Often people are really sweet and complimentative. I like being different, but I am so energized when I visit New York, London or Paris and see inspiration around every corner.
What are you into this season?
Fur, Leopard Print, 50’s inspired, Layered Looks
What is a typical day for you?
It is different everyday. I always start with coffee and catching up on emails.. but then it can be a client appointment, styling a shoot, previewing a collection, working on the blog or creating a hair tutorial for B. Jones Style.
So much fun.. energizing and constantly inspiring me!
