Ituen Basi 70s Iro + Buba

I am so grateful and appreciative, not only because Ituen Basi, who is a Pioneer in Africa’s fashion industry, sent me clothes, shoes, and jewels from her brand new collection, but also because she admires my style and is looking forward to how I translate her work. I’m so freaking honored, shocked & humbled. It is safe to say that it’s Ituen Basi week for me. Come rain, snow or sunshine, I am wearing the clothes she sent me this week. I am also going to show different ways to pair each piece. You are not limited to wearing the top and bottom (as is). You can mix and match colors & prints and have fun with it. The piece I have on is the famous traditional clothing of the Yorubas (one of the main tribes in Nigeria). It’s called the “Iro ati Buba”. This was how they wore it in the 70s, but it has since changed. Now the wrap is much longer (floor length) and the blouse has more of a classic fit than fitted, while the sleeves are longer. I am more of a 70s girl, so this is right up my alley. Thank goodness the weather in Los Angeles is cooperating. I rolled up the sleeves a bit, and tied the wrap to the side. Also paired it with 70s style platform boots and black socks for edge. I hope she likes it. Enjoy…
