Erykah Badu has never been guilty of being boring. In fact, ever since Erykah’s Baduizm, she’s done her very best to always express her artistic side, never fitting into anyone else’s boxes or characterizations of what she should be.
Well here she is again, shedding layers.
Today she reportedly paid a $500 fine and 6 months of probation for stripping in Dealey Plaza in Dallas, where President John F. Kennedy was shot and killed in 1963.
Apparently bystanders and tourists called in complaints after Badu walked from her parked car, a white early model automobile, to the spot where Kennedy was assassinated slowly disrobing as she progressed through the streets.
The video ends with a nude Erykah falling to the ground as if she’d been shot, and then a ~30 second statement / monologue about personal evolution.
What do you think? Did she go too far? Did she get her point across? Were you inspired? Did she deserve the penalties for what she did?
