So, I’m featuring my bff, Kemmy Solomon, of KemKemstudio, who has worked as a designer for the likes of Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan, Levis, to mention a few. She attended London College of Fashion, and Massachusetts College of Art. Kemmy lived and worked in, Florence, Italy, London, Boston, New York City, and now currently resides in Lagos, Nigeria. We are featuring two separate collections. The first one is called “The Survival of The Fittest.” I have described it as a fusion of the craze of downtown Lagos and the grunge of New York City, where Kemmy has spent most of her years. Solomon, who is also a painter, hand-paints on some of her pieces. The fabric for this collection is mostly aso-oke, with dashes of ankara and chiffon. All fabrics are made in her studio.. from picking silk threads to workers weaving final fabric product. Enjoy ..
This second collection was inspired by the famous Great Gatsby book and that era. Dedicated to celebrating a strong, beautiful, yet very feminine woman – in which, according to Kemmy, is the new woman of the millenium. So inlove! Proud to say I own most of her dresses and I feel incredible in them.
