Enough of these belts already. It’s time to part with them. Seriously. Or at least downgrade to small or skinny versions. I mean, I do understand that it gives a seemingly slim effect to the curves and sometimes accentuates your waist…hiding the bulge. However, consumers, take fashion not only too far, but literally. To the extent that it becomes annoying and no longer belongs to the world of fashion.

Just because these belts were once in or deemed a trend, does not mean everyone can wear it. The same way everyone shouldn’t be wearing skinny jeans or spandex. Big belts are not for all body types. Once your belly starts to hang over, or your pooch is playing peek-a-boo from underneath, you are committing a fashion crime. What some don’t get is that wearing a “wide belt” commands a lot of attention to your mid section. Women with large chests, especially, should not be wearing wide belts. It takes away from the rest of your outfit, and in most cases, your pretty face.

Seriously, what’s the point in wearing a mini/skimpy dress or skirt, if it’s going to be accessorized with a belt the length of your torso? The proper kind of accessories can make an outfit, however, choosing the wrong type of accessories can quickly ruin it. The time has come for us to say good-bye to the oversize belts. Like my girl, C said, “wide belts should not be used as an external girdle.”

Smooches!
