So last night it was time for the Elle Style Awards 2009 in London. It was a dreary and very rainy night but the celebs turned out regardless, and like a true fashionista, I threw on my heels and joined them for the party. Here’s how the night turned out…
I wore a blue satin dress with an oversized corsage which was quite paired down for me, so much so that some of the waiters who I happen to know worked with us for our last ‘Press Day’ at River commented that I looked “classy and understated” – I’m all about making a statement, usually! As it turns out, my dark and demure ensemble fitted the Elle Style bill perfectly – everyone, and I mean EVERYONE wore black. Jade Jagger, Courntey Love, Sienna – you name them, they donned black!
VV Brown kicked off the party in style with an amazing performance, if you haven’t heard of VV, think a black Amy Winehouse crossed with a member of the Supremes. She is FABULOUS! Roisin Murphy ( style icon n lead singer of MOLOKO) seemed to enjoy it and was throwing lots of shapes. Think she’d been on the Moet like me.

Sienna Miller was looking suitably fabulous, fitting since she picked up the Elle Style Icon of the Year Award. I spotted her hanging out with celeb hair stylist, James Brown, who was tending to her tresses mid-convo. I wonder if they were discussing the eminent launch of Sienna’s fashion range twenty twelve at London Fashion Week?? Hmm..
Frida Pinto looked gorgeous and was as gracious as a princess, she held the door for me as we were both trying to get into the venue at the same time. she is my new favourite person. She is effortlessly stunning! It was nice to see Bafta winner, Mickey Rourke enjoying himself and staying true to his rebellious roots – he won the Best Actor Award and celebrated by spending the night smoking at his table. Tut, tut Mickey! Courtney Love was being a little less ROCK N ROLL and a little more country by being on her best behaviour all night. I couldnt wait to see her at the after party, I’m sure the wheels will fall off.
Speaking of smoking, whether cigarettes were your bag or not, the place to be and be seen was the outdoor smoking area. All the celebs were hanging out there. I bumped into LEGENDARY hat designer to the stars, Stephen Jones, and bag queen, Lulu Guinness and managed to have a quick chat with them. They were both amazing and gladly posed for a snap for me (check out Lulu’s fabulous bag). I also caught up with David Williams( from Little Britain fame) who was lovely and had the most stunning girl on his arms. I stopped for a chinwag with Pixie Geldof. It’s quite weird to see how she has grown and come a long way, I met her when she was just 14 on a teenage program called “girl thing.” Who would have thought a cheeky cigarette would turn into a celebathon?!
Henry Holland, who always shows me love was looking amazing despite being over worked – trying to get his collection ready for fashion week. That guy has grown from strength to strength and i am ever so proud of him. I always knew he’d be famous one day.
As i got ready to leave, i bumped into Matthew Williamson, who i just LOVE! If i was a gay man, i would shag him. He is just so beautiful. Maybe a bit too tanned, but beautiful. He was very gracious and lovely, we also discussed a little about his forthcoming collaboration with H&M. I am sooo looking forward to this now.
I left around 2am with my goody bag in hand (which contained of John Galliano perfume and Godiva chocolates in case you were wondering) and a smile on my face. This fashionista was officially all partied out! BRING ON FASHION WEEK!!!!
‘Til next time, stay fabulous…
